High Carbon Ferrochromium (containing carbon 4 ~ 8%) , medium carbon ferrochromium (containing carbon 0.5 ~ 4%) , low carbon ferrochromium (containing carbon 0.15 ~ 0.50%) , low carbon ferrochromium (containing carbon 0.06%) , ultra-low carbon ferrochromium (containing carbon less than 0.03%) , metal chromium, silicon chromium alloy, ferrochromium: a ferroalloy of chromium and iron; an important alloy additive in steelmaking. The chromite ore for smelting chromite should contain CR2O340 ~ 50% , and the ratio of chromium to iron should be more than 2.8. In recent years, a large amount of"Charge grade ferrochromium" containing 50% CR has been produced, and ores containing low CR _ 2O _ 3 and CR/Fe ratio have been used.
According to different carbon content, ferrochromium can be divided into high-carbon ferrochromium, including loading grade ferrochromium (C ≤10%) , medium-carbon ferrochromium (c ≤4.0%) , low-carbon ferrochromium (c ≤0.5%) , and low-carbon ferrochromium (c ≤0.15%) . Also commonly used silicon chromium alloy, ferrochromium nitride, etc. . Ferrochromium is mainly used as an alloy additive in steel-making, which was added in the later stage of steel-making refining. It is necessary to use low-carbon and micro-carbon ferrochromium in smelting low-carbon steel such as stainless steel. As a result of the improvement of the steelmaking process, carbon ferrochromium (mainly charge grade ferrochromium) is now loaded into the furnace when stainless steel and other steel grades are produced by AOD method (see out-of-furnace refining) , as a result, only in the late addition of low-carbon ferrochrome adjustment, so now the focus of ferrochrome production is to make ferrochrome carbon.
