Product Description
Carborundum, also known as silicon carbide (SiC) , is made of quartz sand, petroleum coke (or coal coke) , wood chips (green silicon carbide production needs to add salt) and other raw materials by high-temperature smelting resistance furnace. Silicon carbide is a rare mineral found in nature, moissanite. Silicon carbide is also known as Wollastonite. In the contemporary C, N, B and other non-oxide high-tech refractory raw materials, silicon carbide is the most widely used, the most economic one, can be called gold steel sand or refractory sand. At present, Silicon Carbide produced in China is divided into black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide, which are hexagonal crystals with specific gravity of 3.20 ~ 3.25 and microhardness of 2840 ~ 3320 kg/mm2.
Silicon carbide has four main applications: functional ceramics, advanced Refractory, abrasive and metallurgical raw materials. The raw material of silicon carbide can be supplied in large quantity, and it can not be regarded as high-tech product.
(1) as an abrasive, can be used to do abrasives, such as grinding wheel, whetstone, grinding head, such as shingles.
